About Bruthr Pudge.

We are an independent jazz project based in Boston MA. Our members include, but are not limited to, Max Stopyra on bass, Reece Nelson on Keys, and Nick Doyle on Drums.

Max Stopyra

Max Stopyra is a bassist and producer with roots in funk, soul, neo-soul and hip hop. While a lot of his musical experience comes from experience gigging, writing and recording with many bands, he recently trained as an audio engineer and jazz bassist at the New Zealand School of Music at Victoria University of Wellington. Max Leads all of the mixing, mastering, and audio engineering efforts for all of Bruthr Pudge's work. Alongside Music, Max also is an electrical and computer engineer that spends his time building audio gear from the ground up. He is in the Olin College of Engineering class of 2024. Some of Max's biggest inspirations include Paul Jackson, Pino Palladino, Stanley Clarke, the Mizell Brothers, and D'angelo.

Reece Nelson

My name is Reece Nelson. I’ve loved to play the piano ever since I was 4 years old and since then I seldom go a day without playing. I had multiple teachers growing up, all of whom taught at UNC School of the Arts. I started taking at the college when I was 12. With a classical background, I quickly learned advanced repertoire and eventually gained respect among the other students for my young age and quick learning. About 4 years ago I decided that classical music was no longer what I was interested in and I began a pitfall into jazz piano. I haven’t turned back once. Now, I go to Berklee College of Music and study Jazz Composition, a.k.a., I pretty much write jazz all day. A lot of my playing is influenced by Chick Corea and Bill Evans, a healthy mix of layered chords and quick solos. I love playing in a band but I also love to play solo, likely because of my classical roots. Hopefully I see you at a show soon!

Nick Doyle

My name is Nick Doyle. I am a drummer from Raleigh, North Carolina, studying at Berklee College of Music. I started playing drums at the age of 5, using boxes and bins I found around the house. A year later, my parents bought me a drum set for Christmas. I started out playing punk rock music, and quickly found myself listening to everything under the rock umbrella. By the time I was in high school, I started playing in local bands, and occasionally gigged around town. I soon graduated to playing jazz during the latter half of high school, and upon my arrival to Berklee, started to explore all the different styles of music I could get my hands on. Some of my favorite drummers include Tony Williams, Elvin Jones, John Bonham, and others.
